Our managing partners have been with the company for over 20 years, and they all participate actively in the firm's day-to-day operations. For ongoing professional growth, we offer continuing professional education programs. This is our way to stay on top of the latest industry regulations and guidelines.
We have an open environment where everyone is accessible and there is a quick response to our employees' needs. During the past several decades, we have developed a network of relationships with respected law firms, banks, and other organizations in the Southeastern Wisconsin area. Julie Craig
Certified Public Accountant, Managing Partner
Julie assists companies of all sizes ranging from small sole proprietorships to the multi-million dollar businesses with all phases of growth and development and business challenges.
She has over 31 years of experience working with municipal administrators, executive directors, co-owners, and boards at various companies. With this experience, she has developed many strong relationships and a broad repertoire. She also specializes in aiding nonprofits with not only budgets, reporting, and regulatory filing challenges, but also reinventing themselves.
Julie is the most knowledgeable person to talk to about nonprofit requirements, government audit changes, taxes, budgets, sewer, and water. She is always up-to-date on all nonprofit and government changes through her involvement in multiple organizations.

Michael Slye
Certified Public Accountant, Business Appraiser, Partner
Mike oversees business taxes ranging from the small sole proprietorships to the multi-million dollar companies. He is the go-to person at Gordon J. Maier & Company for handling income taxes and has over 24 years of experience. Equally important, his expertise in tax allows for in-depth tax planning for individuals and trusts. One of the advantages of working with Mike is that he often finds the tax credits that others may not even consider. Additionally, he knows about all the best tax planning tools with extensive knowledge of the tools currently available.
When you receive your tax bill, you can be assured there will be no surprises due to Mike’s advanced planning. Mike takes the time to get to know you on a personal level along with your family. Barbra Lasky

With over 51 years of experience in tax and financial statement preparation, Barb is a seasoned expert dedicated to helping owner-involved businesses thrive. Barb’s approach is deeply personal and customer-centered, focusing on equipping business owners with the tools they need to truly understand their financial situation.
Barb excels at communicating complex financial concepts in a clear and approachable manner. She ensures that her customers understand the issues at hand and what steps need to be taken. She believes in creating long-term plans rather than opting for quick fixes, which allows her clients to achieve sustainable success.
Barb views each customer as a unique combination of their business, individual, and family interests. She works tirelessly to help them achieve their goals as a cohesive unit. Katherine Loewen
Certified Public Accountant, Partner
Katherine has over 38 years of experience. Before joining us, she worked for 37 years at HL&L, serving as a partner for 29 years. Kathy brings a wealth of expertise and a personal touch to her work. Starting her career right out of college, Kathy has honed her skills in dealing with owner-involved businesses of all sizes, preparing both corporate and individual tax returns, and handling financial statement preparations, including compilations and reviews.
Kathy believes in getting to know her business and individual customers personally, considering the whole picture rather than just focusing on each entity independently. She collaborates closely with financial advisors for comprehensive tax planning, ensuring that all aspects of her clients' financial situations are addressed. Kathy's long-term commitment to her customers and her passion for what she does make her a trusted advisor and a valued part of the team.
Outside of the office, Kathy is an avid baseball fan. She has held Milwaukee Brewers season tickets for over 30 years and has visited most of the MLB stadiums, with only a few of the newer ones left on her list.
John Parrish
CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT, MASTER’S IN TAXATION, PARTNER
John brings decades of experience in corporate tax and advisory services. He began his career in corporate tax roles with several large, nationally recognized organizations, where he developed a strong foundation in complex tax and financial matters.
In 1993, John co-founded a regional accounting firm, where he spent more than 30 years serving local entrepreneurs and small to mid-sized businesses across a broad range of industries. His work has consistently focused on providing practical, strategic guidance tailored to each client’s goals.
Beyond his client work, John is deeply committed to education and community service. He served for over 10 years as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Lake County and continues to support small nonprofit organizations as a board financial officer and trusted financial advisor.
John passed the Illinois CPA exam in 1977, earned a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University in 1982, and graduated from the College of Financial Planning in 1989 as a Certified Financial Planner.
